Rules and conditions
Description
The Ceramic Exhibition takes place every two years in Saint-Cergue. We dedicate it to ceramists who work sandstone, china, faïence and terra cotta. Work of art, such as sculptures or utility items are displayed. This unique Exhibition in Switzerland takes place every two years in a renovated farm, where traditional and modern architecture blend in nicely. We offer 1’000 square meters totally dedicated to ceramic. Saint-Cergue is a little village ideally located within 30 minutes drive from Geneva and 45 minutes from Lausanne. The French “Haut-Jura” county is a close neighbour as well as Pays de Gex and Franche-Comté. We also benefit from very good international roads and very good
trains connections.
Participation
If you intend to participate, please provide us with the following documents :
a) one curriculum vitae
b) your comments about your work
c) three good quality digital pictures on a CD (free from owner’s rights), showing your latest work of art, viewed from different angle. This will be used for selection
DEFINITION OF YOUR MAJOR WORK OF ART : it must reflect your capacity in terms of perfection, technical knowledge, creativity as well as plasticity
d) three other pictures of your usual production. (free from owner’s rights. These pictures must reflect the work you intend to put on show here
Please note we must receive your complete file before February 1st 2006.
The selection comity gathers professionals from the different ceramists branches as well as from sculpture, architecture and art galleries. We will answer to every file and we will confirm, in writing, to the forty selected ceramists their participation to this exhibition from then on until March 31th 2006. Your registration will be effective as soon as we receive your participation fees amounting to euros 140 (Swiss Francs 200,--).
Installation and items put on show
-the major piece of art, used for the selection must be put on show. A special room will be dedicated to them. For the other work you will put on show, you will be provided with the following :
-a white or black horizontal surface (1,34m x 2,05 m for a height set between 0,50m to 0,70m)
-this is being lighted up from the ceiling with a halogen spot (300W)
Each participant will put on show a maximun of two different items but you can show as many of these two different items you may wish.
No additional tasks will be required from you apart from installing you work on arrival and packing it back on departure.
Sales and commission
The organizing body will look after selling and will get 25% commission. Whenever possible, visitors take away what they buy . Therefore, each participants will have enough items in stock. The organizing body will look after restocking your table.
Insurance
The organizing body insures the goods against damages and theft from installation until removal. Transportation is not insured.
Communal Collection
The Municipality of Saint-Cergue buys one or more pieces at each exhibition for the Communal Public collection Customs clearance for European Exhibitors
Where to cross the border ?
The Swiss and French customs have granted us with a set of simplified procedures at
Chavannes-de-Bogis (department of Ain, north-est of Geneva, close to Divonne-les-bains)
(no deposit, no VAT prepayment, no ATA carnet, no administrative procedures fees)
Formularies
They will be provided by us
- 4 lists (2 for the French customs and 2 for the Swiss ones) specifying the number of items and their prices
French Customs
When leaving France, give 2 lists to the French Customs for control and visa. When this is done, one list will remain with the French Customs and
you must keep the other one.
When entering France asgain, you will have to show this list, which will have been up-dated by us during the Exhibition, and the pieces you might have sold will be clearly identified
Swiss Customs
When entering Switzerland, give 2 lists to the Swiss Customs for control and visa. When this is done, one list will remain with the Swiss Customs and you must keep the other one. When exiting Switzerland, you have have to show the list, which will have been up-dated by us during the Exhibition, and the items you might have sold will be clearly identified.
VAT
VAT amounting to 7.6% will be deducted from the sales on the global amount and paid directly by us to the relevant authorities.
